our trip in Austria

      La fin du mois d'Avril et le début du mois de Mai ont été sous le signe du voyage.

Et oui, nous avons quitté la Slovénie, pour visiter la Croatie et l'Autriche.

Le 30 Avril, nous sommes allées une journée a Zagreb, car en effet, la capitale de la Croatie, est a moins de 2 heures de notre charmante ville, Maribor. Nous avons profité du beau temps pour visiter tous les recoins de la ville. Bien que Zagreb ne regorge pas de monuments historiques, elle a tout de même un certain charme. Effectivement nous nous sommes perdues dans les hauteurs de la ville pour redescendre dans un coin qui ressemblait à un petit village du Sud.

Nous sommes aussi allé dans une galerie d'art, à la découverte d'une exposition consacrée 

à l'Op Art. 

Ensuite, nous avons passé une semaine en Autriche. Nous avons commencé par une belle journee a Graz, ville à moins d'une heure de la frontière avec la Slovénie. La visite de cette jolie ville fut très agréable. Nous avons flâné, profité du beau temps et visité la Kunsthalle. Nous avons pu decouvrir deux très grandes expositions, notamment celles d'Iya et Emilia Kabakov ainsi que d'El Lissitzky. Le musée est très particuler de par son architecture. En effet, il ressemble à un alien dans le paysage. On peut y voir une forme de land art dans le paysage, le musée est à lui-même une oeuvre d'art.

Le lendemain, nous avons levé les voiles pour la capitale Autrichienne: Vienne. Nous y avons passé 3 jours. Bien suffisant pour decouvrir cette grande ville. Apres avoir enfin trouvé une auberge pour la premiere nuit, nous avons pu nous laissé aller pour profiter de la ville. Avec le beau temps, nous avons pu flâner, découvrir les monuments. Nous avons fait le circuit touristique, c'est-a-dire le tour du centre ville (1er district). Ensuite, nous avons voulu nous perdre dans les quartiers moins touristiques, mais tout aussi intéressant du point de vue architectural.

Vienne est une grande capitale qui regorge de grand monument, tel que la cathédrale, l'opéra, mais elle offre aussi des petits coins bien sympathiques.

Nous nous sommes aussi laissé aller à la visite des musées. Ici, il y a même un quartier dedié aux musées, appelé le MusuemQuarter. Nous avons donc visité le MUMOK, musée d'art contemporain de la ville. 

Apres cette semaine bien remplie, retour a Maribor "home sweet home".

Sanje od Sanje

Ce mois-ci, nous avons travaillé à la galerie K18 avec la jeune artiste, illustratrice Sanje Zamuda, étudiante à Ljubljana.
Son travail est divers et varié. Elle ne travaille pas uniquement sur l'illustration papier. En effet, elle représente bien le large panel que le monde de l'illustration englobe. Elle travaille autour divers supports, tels que le papier/dessin, la peinture, la video d'animation et l'impression sur carton. L'univers de Sanja ne s'arrête pas aux formalités habituelles de l'illustration. Elle puise ses idées dans ses expériences et ses rêves pour en faire sortir toute la puissance et poser sur papier, video et créer des oeuvres fortes de sens.
Ses oeuvres, sont assez vivantes et mettent en avant la joie de vivre de l'artiste, aussi bien dans ses dessins que dans ses films d'animations.


This month, we worked at gallery K18 with the young artist, illustrator Sanje Zamuda, student in Ljubljana. Her work is diverse and various. She is not working only on the paper illustration. Indeed, she represents well the wide range that spans the world of illustration. She works on differents media, like paper/draws, painting, animation and printing on cardboard. The Sanja's universe does not stop with the usual formalities of illustration. She draws her ideas from her experiences and her dreams to throw out all the power and put it on paper, video and creating strong works of meaning.
Her works, are quite lively and highlight the "joie de vivre" of the artist, as well in her drawings and in animation films.

And what about April !

 
    In french we said : Avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil. That could be translated by Stay fully clothed in April. Indeed, in Slovenia, April rhymes with air flow, winter rain and momentary gleams. 
We passed our month to work on the exhibition of Laura Ličer at the Galery K18, we also started to work more seriously to work on our EVS project and we traveled when we had free time.

    This month the gallery K18 received the work of an slovenian artist, Laura Ličer, she works on illustrations. The artist paintings are between painting and illustration. The artist presents a world full of imaginary pictures and magical which hide sometimes the harsh reality : the violence of the life and her cruelty. The accumulation of drawing and colour, makes her work hypnotic. Her work arouses as the same time the world of a child who would grown too fast. By using this bright colour, her paintings are also decorative and plastic art work. 

    We work on the establishment of her works in the gallery and we tried to make the best possible her works appreciable. We met the artist one day before the opening and she started working on the establishment immediately.

    We started to work this month on our own EVS project. We just work on it more seriously, because until now it was just some ideas who needed to be put in form.
We decided to work together and to organize a collective exhibition in the gallery K18. We talked a lot about the subject/thema and about the way we would like to work : in collelctif, times for workshop where we could share our experiences around discussions… In one side we have Jade's works, the artist who desire to exhibit her works. And in other side, Clementine the coordinator and curator of the project. She will lead the exhibition. 

    What it taken a lot of time it was the redaction of the call for artist because we didn't know yet for who we will send it. And for us it was the first time that we did this.  
        Collaborative work is also new for us. We learned to listen each others and we also learn to make compromises. But at the end we worked well together and our differences move the project forward. 
The Open call written, we just need to send it. We are currently in contact with slovenians artists and other eves who want to participate at the exhibition.
