What is under your mask...

Sara is a young graduated Slovenian artist.
"What is under your mask" will be the first in a series of exhibitions which will present illustrations. It's also the first exhibition of the artist. She studied art pedagogy at the faculty of Maribor. She presents her illustrations which is the most important in her work. She works only in black and white with ink or with pens. Her illustrations include images of people and animals. We can recognize her family or some of famous people who are in our occidental culture.
She is inspired by fashion illustrations and by characters from cartoons. We can notice that all the characters have the large eyes. It's a distincive sign of the artist. She also works with text and uses it with humorous. Her illustrations are as the same time for an adult public: there is a critical view, she appropriates the characters and she shows us them under her point of view. She also uses cynicism. And young people are also touched by the characters like Batman, or Harry Potter.
In her project with the small suitcase "What is under your mask" it is a critical against people we know because they are famous or because they are just in news paper but who are they in reality ? Do we know them for real ? She invites public to hide faces of people on news papers put on the wall of the gallery.  She has already created buffers for this project. Buffers represent masks known, as: Hannibal, Pussy riot, Scream...

What i like in her work c'est qu'elle s'intéresse aux nouvelles icônes de notre génération à la manière d'un enfant.

Life, etc...

Two months ago, we arrived in Slovenia at Maribor at Infopeka for our European Voluntary Service. We took time to discover Maribor city and all the possibilities to work at INFOPEKA. The team explained us all the workshops and we were invited to discuss with the others volunteers about their projects. We learned to work with the group of Pekarna Dobis Das and started to know the children. We took photos also for Stopinje Mesta during the walk of the churchs. We assisted at our first Pekarna Potopisti during the meeting about Palestina and thanks it was in English !!
We started this week to work at the gallery K18 with a young slovenian artist. We helped her to install her work and we participated at the openning. And now we stay every two days to make the permanence of the gallery.
We have many ideas for our own projects and we would like to do an exhibition together at K18. But we have to discuss and make clear our ideas. The best would be that we could invite slovenian artists wich could expose with me under a same topic, theme.

To be continued...

Our first trip in Slovenia

During one week, with Jade we went outside Maribor to go 4 days in Bled and 3 in Ljubljana.

We went to Bled to do a training with all the volunteers in Slovenia, it was really cool to meet new people of different nationalities. Thanks to this training we are able to discover news cities: Bled and also Radovlicja.  These are very beautiful and typical. People were so nice with us, because one day, we had to realize a project with local Slovenian.
We enjoyed this travel because the weather was so good.

After this first time in Bled we went to discover the capital: LJUBLJANA!
This city is so cute, i love it.
I liked the city center with the triple bridge and people in terraces enjoying the weather. We did the same thing and we also walked a lot.
We went to Tivoli Park to see this wonderful park and an exhibition in the international center of graphics art. There was an exhibition of Janez Janša, a famous contemporary artist in Slovenia ( actually a group of 3 artists).

Then, friday we went at Metelkova, an obligation for us coming from Maribor and working in the same kind of place. We went with volunteers that we met in Bled. It was a great experience, there was a lot of people. We danced until the end of the night :)
Saturday, we enjoyed the city, to discover news districts. We spend a good time in terrace.
Sunday, our last day, we went at the flea market. Then we met others volunteers to do a pic-nic in Tivoli Park.
After this super week, it was time for us to come back at home, in Maribor!
